I went to the Hate Incident Partnership conference

July 3, 2013

I went to the Hate Incident Partnership conference today at the Artrix in Bromsgrove – was cheeky and put our display board up and put my cards on every chair (with permission.) We had  a new film viewing, suitable for use in schools and in organisations, called ‘Break the Cycle,’  Victim Support service told us about their work; a lesbian victim told us about how her victimisation was ended with support from this service. There was an overview from West Mercia Police Hate Crime about their National and Local strategy – they want more reportings of Hate Incidents;  and information about ‘Reporting centres’ – which are comfortable places where victims can feel safe enough to report incidents and are supported. The police stressed they take all reports seriously and support will always be given before incidents escalate.
