About

LGBT719New Road Parents’ Support covers Worcestershire and South Birmingham. The voluntary group convenes on the first Wednesday evening of every other month, alternating with Birmingham Parents Support group.  The next meeting is on Wednesday May 1st at 7.30pm 2013. Everything is confidential within the group.

However Margaret understands that some people do not like groups and is happy to see parents individually, at mutually convenient times. She has two gay children herself.

Parents learn to come to terms with their children being gay and many then become involved in advocating for LGBT people in Schools and Churches etc.

In Worcestershire we are involved in Bromsgrove and Redditch LGBT History Month each February, at Redditch Town Hall and Bromsgrove Artrix. (see our display stall at Artrix this year.)

Margaret and Irene have given talks at the Birmingham Ormiston Academy and Margaret has also talked to Sure Start, Barnados, and PwC and at various conferences (BPS and BACP).

Booklets are available, produced by FFLAG “How do I tell my parents?” and A Guide for Families and Friends,” free of charge for individuals.
